The Constitution


Preamble

Disc Jockey Art is one of the great artistic expressions of modern culture.

Like every established art form, it deserves to be understood, preserved and passed on to future generations.

DJ Art Institution exists to serve that purpose.

This Constitution defines the principles and commitments that guide the Institution in fulfilling its mission. It exists to preserve the artistic foundations of Disc Jockey Art, encourage thoughtful innovation, promote education and inspire a deeper appreciation of the art in all its forms.

The Institution exists not for itself, but for the long term preservation and understanding of Disc Jockey Art.


Article I

The Purpose of the Institution

DJ Art Institution exists to preserve, educate and elevate Disc Jockey Art for present and future generations.

It seeks to deepen the public’s understanding and appreciation of the art while protecting the artistic foundations upon which it was established.


Article II

The First Principles

The Institution is permanently guided by three First Principles:

  1. Established art forms do not expire.
  2. Technology should strengthen art, never replace its artistic foundations.
  3. Disc Jockeys create human connection by surprising the crowd through genuine artistic performance.

These principles guide every activity, publication, partnership and educational initiative undertaken by the Institution.


Article III

Preservation

The Institution recognises the artistic disciplines that define Disc Jockey Art and is committed to preserving their knowledge for present and future generations.

Preservation does not mean resisting change.

It means ensuring that future innovation builds upon the artistic foundations of the art rather than replacing them.


Article IV

Education

The Institution believes that preserving an art begins by teaching people how to appreciate it.

Education therefore exists not only for Disc Jockeys, but for audiences, educators, venues, organisers and everyone who wishes to better understand Disc Jockey Art.

The Institution recognises that Disc Jockey Art is fundamentally a live human art.

Festivals, clubs, private events, radio broadcasts and other performances each offer different artistic experiences.

The Institution encourages audiences to understand and appreciate each form according to its own artistic purpose.

The Institution brings together individuals and organisations who share a commitment to understanding, appreciating and preserving Disc Jockey Art.

The Institution measures its success not by popularity or size, but by the quality of understanding it helps create.

Even the smallest gathering can represent the highest success when it deepens appreciation for the art.
