09 – Next Generation

We’ve touched on the topic of education before, but this article focuses on something even more crucial: the next generation.

As professional and amateur DJs, music enthusiasts, and venue owners, we must ask ourselves: How are we supporting kids and teens in learning about music and DJ culture?

Why It Matters

The next generation will carry the legacy forward. They are the future curators of DJ artistry and music culture.

Kids and teens should have the opportunity to experience a club environment early in life. Introducing them to the right experiences enables them to transcend through music without relying on distractions.

Teaching them to appreciate the art from an early age helps them recognise true artistry versus those who simply exploit technology without contributing creatively.

Art appreciation, like any skill, needs to be nurtured early. As young people grow and face life’s challenges, their appreciation for music and art becomes a source of healing, inspiration, and connection.

A Call to Action

If you truly care about DJ and music culture, ask yourself: What have I done to provide the right information and experiences to the next generation?

By empowering them with the tools to appreciate and sustain this culture, we ensure the longevity and vitality of DJ artistry.

They are the real curators of the DJ legacy and music culture!
